Hand augers

To ensure the collection of dependable soil samples, using the appropriate hand auger is pivotal. Our team of experts has designed hand augers with two types of connections – bayonet and conical screw thread (more details on this below). These design choices enable drilling to greater depths. These hand augers are constructed from high-quality, non-toxic steel, rendering them exceptionally well-suited for soil and environmental research.

Hand auger standard sets

Most augers are available in both one-piece and two-piece (extendable) versions. For your convenience, we offer several standard sets of hand auger equipment, available in five different types:

  • Ergonomic auger set with a specially designed ergonomic T-handle
  • Basic hand auger set with bayonet connections
  • Basic hand auger set with conical screw thread connections (CSC)
  • Geological prospecting kit in a carrying bag
  • Hand-operated bailer boring auger set

Selecting the Appropriate Connection: Bayonet or Conical Screw Thread?

Our range of augers is offered with two distinct connections: bayonet and conical screw thread. The choice between these two depends on your specific requirements.

The bayonet connection stands out for its rapid coupling and lightweight design, making it a widely adopted standard choice.

On the other hand, the conical screw thread connection (CSC) boasts increased strength. This durability allows for the use of a hammer, rendering the CSC connection ideal for penetrating hard soils.

Ergonomic handle

In order to safeguard field workers from potential physical strain, the extended t-handle design of this variant offers notable benefits. The adjusted grip points ensure reduced force exertion on the handle during auger operation.

The incorporated ratchet system, coupled with the rounded handle ends, maintains the user's wrist in a more neutral alignment while maneuvering the auger.

From an ergonomic perspective, exerting force on the handle during pushing and pulling is most effective when initiated from a wrist position that remains in a neutral state.
